It feels strange writing about Bali when Christmas is just around the corner and the warm blue waters of Gili Trawangan feels like a very distant memory. However, for purely selfish reasons I really wanted to write these posts as a way to remember how incredible this holiday was, as a little travel journal which is much nicer to look at than my scribbled notebook I tried to write in on the trip! So back to Bali!
Our second day in Gili T started with some iced coffee and breakfast on the beach with this incredible view…
We had booked ourselves onto a snorkel trip for the day and we were really looking forward to it. It was Euan’s first time and we were super excited about the prospect of seeing some sea turtles!
Our first stop was turtle bay, where I unfortunately did not see any turtles. This was the first proper outing for our Gopro where we had the most fun playing about with it, capturing some photos that will always remind us of how much fun we had on this day!
Our second stop was a Japanese WW2 shipwreck, surrounded by coral and shoals of fish. The water was super shallow so we got to see tonnes just by floating at the surface of the water.
Our final stop was deep water where we practiced out best diving to see the fish at the bottom of the sea, I wasn’t very good at this part!
After all that swimming we were exhausted and starving and very much in need of an ice cold glass of coca cola and some chicken satay. The boat dropped us off at Gili Air where we had lunch and had time to wander the beach. Perfect end to a perfect day.
