A few weeks ago we spent a weekend with friends in Bristol and headed to Bath for the day to rent rowing boats on the River Avon . It was such a fun thing do and we got the perfect weather for it – hot and sunny, perfect for drinking prosecco in! We hired our boats from the Bath Boating Station, which is about a twenty minute walk from Bath train station. You can hire the boats by the hour but we decided to hire them for the day so we could just relax and take our time with them!
We rowed downstream for a couple of miles before we moored our boat at the Bathampton Mill, a pub on the river where we had a spot of lunch and share a couple of bottles of wine in the sunshine. It was such a lovely, relaxed way to spend the afternoon and it was nice to not worry about what time we needed to get the boat back for.
Our row back was even more leisurely than the one there – we were all comfortably tired and full after lunch. We eventually moored our boat again and a few brave souls had a dip in the river, I of course did not and sat and enjoyed my paper cup of wine!
After dropping our boat off we headed back on the train to Bristol where we collapsed immediately in the garden and made on helluva barbeque with mountains of food. We drank, chatted and ended up dancing and singing until the early hours of the morning before heading to bed!
The next morning we had a walk around the Clifton Downs before a downpour hit us which set us sprinting in torrential rain for home. We then said our farewells and headed back to London, damp and exhausted!
