Turning the big 2-6

What could take the edge of turning 26…..a champagne breakfast of course. Well, prosecco!

Saturday morning began with cards and presents to open and a headache which was eased by some ice cold irn-bru. No birthday would be complete without it! We had granola and strawberries followed by bagels with bacon and cream cheese, washed down with some lovely bubbles. Next thing to buy for our new flat…some champagne flutes!

We went for a pre-lunch walk around Seven Dials where I spent some birthday money on a pair of suede slippers from Office and took in the atmosphere. It is a much nicer area to shop in than Oxford Circus or Covent Garden, the shops aren’t as busy and there are lots of cafes and independent shops to have a look in.

E had organised lunch at the Hawksmoor, a delicious steak restaurant.

We started with cocktails: a French martini for me and a Hawksmoor Collins for E. The cocktail menu was very fancy so I just went for my old favourite….you can’t go wrong with a classic!

We both had ribeye with triple cooked chips and macaroni cheese, with bone marrow gravy and peppercorn sauce on the side. I ate up every bite and forgot to even try to take any photos! We then jumped on the train to Denmark Hill and had some beers…

…before heading to our friends’ house where they had thrown a little surprise party for me with bunting, balloons, rum punch and delicious banana and chocolate cake.

We laughed, chatted and drank up cocktails before heading to Bar Storey in Peckham where I had the world’s biggest and strongest margaritas and crashing in bed at 1am! What an amazing first birthday in London!!
